Beach tips

The Falckensteiner Strand in Kiel-Friedrichsort has a wide sandy beach with coastal dunes and beach barriers. The beach is particularly popular with families, thanks to its shallow water areas at the shore. There is also a lifeguard service. Because the fjord here is very narrow, the ships pass impressively close to the beach. In the summer months, the beach lies on the route of the Förde ferry line.

The beautiful wide Schilkseer Strand is located south of the harbour and can be reached via a flight of stairs. Breakwaters ensure calm water and make bathing a safe pleasure for children as well. In addition, DLRG lifeguards watch over the swimmers. Beach chairs invite you to relax. A small beach kiosk provides snacks. In addition, there are pubs and restaurants in the nearby Olympic Centre.

Laboe is a traditional seaside resort on the Kiel Fjord and known to many people for its naval memorial and museum submarine. The Baltic seaside resort Laboe is always worth a visit: Its small harbour has berths for yachts, fishing trawlers and angling boats. The promenade extends directly behind the beach.

In the suburb of Mölkenort, the Heikendorfer Kurstrand (spa beach) is very popular with young and old alike. The supervised beach with wicker beach-chair rental, a kiosk, restaurants, a bathing island and sanitary facilities forms the ideal setting for a beautiful beach excursion.
