Beach Tips

Falckenstein
Falckenstein beach in Kiel-Friedrichsort has a broad, sandy beach with coastal dunes and barrier beaches. In the south, a dike protects the interior against flooding. As there are pronounced shallow water areas along the shore, the beach is particularly popular with families in summer, during which time it is used by fjord steamers to put into harbour. The beach is supervised. Because the fjord is very narrow here, the ships come impressively close to the beach.

Schilksee
There is a beautiful, broad sandy beach south of the harbour of Schilksee, up-stream of the cliffs, which can be reached via staircases. Breakwaters ensure calm waters, and this makes swimming safe and fun, also for little children. What is more, the DLRG lifeguards watch over the swimmers. If required, beach chairs can be rented. And for those wishing to enjoy a meal or something to drink, there is a beach kiosk as well as inns and restaurants in the Olympia centre, located close by.

Laboe
Laboe is a traditional seaside resort on Kiel fjord and well-known by many people due to the German Navy Cenotaph and museum submarine. The Baltic Sea spa town of Laboe is always worth a visit: in the small harbour, yachts, fishing boats and cutters have their berthing places. The promenade is situated directly behind the beach.

Heikendorf
Protected in a cove, Heikendorf spa beach, located in the Möltenort district, is very popular both with old and young. The guarded bathing beach, where canopied beach chairs can be rented, a kiosk with an extensive offer, restaurants with a sea view and terrace, as well as sanitary facilities offer the ideal backdrop for a beautiful trip to the beach.
