Wie drei neu eingestellte Mitarbeiter aus Spanien, Guinea und Syrien beweisen: Mohammad Karaja, 20, ist ein syrischer Flüchtling, der erst vor ein paar Monaten nach Deutschland gekommen ist. Aus seiner vom Krieg zer- rütteten Heimat und dem Li- banon bringt er bereits viele gastronomische Erfahrungen mit. Daran möchte er unbe- dingt anknüpfen. Wie genau, weiß er noch nicht. Als Aus- hilfskraft im ATLANTIC Grand Hotel kann Herr Karaja in aller Ruhe herausfinden, ob für ihn ein Studium oder eine Ausbildung das Richtige ist. Lorena Ponferrada Rodriguez, 23, war in ihrer Heimat Spanien arbeitslos – wie über die Hälfte ihrer jungen Landsleute. Im ATLANTIC Grand Hotel Bremen fand sie endlich einen Ausbil- dungsplatz. Die Chance dazu gab ihr MobiPro-EU – eine Maßnahme der Bundesregie- rung zum Abbau der hohen Jugendarbeitslosigkeit in Europa. Für das Hotel ist Frau Rodriguez ein Glücksgriff. In den kommenden zwei Jahren lernt sie hier alles, was sie als Hotelfachfrau braucht – auch Deutsch. Amadou Sow, 19, ist aus Guinea geflohen, einem von Gewalt und Armut geplag- ten Land an der Westküste Afrikas. Im ATLANTIC Grand Hotel macht er eine Aus- bildung zum Koch. Doch in der Küche, wo es oft schnell gehen muss, ist die Sprach- barriere noch zu hoch. Darum wiederholt Herr Sow das erste Lehrjahr. Wie alle ausländischen Auszubil- denden nimmt er an einem intensiven Deutschkurs teil, der jede Woche kostenfrei im ATLANTIC Grand Hotel statt- findet. Seiner Zukunft steht damit nichts mehr im Wege. Open-mindedness and a wel- coming culture are a matter of course at the ATLANTIC Grand Hotel. Integration is part of our service, and not only for our guests, as our three newly recruited staff members from Spain, Guinea and Syria can prove: Mohammad Karaja, 20, is a Syrian refugee who only came to Germany a couple of months ago. He had already acquired considerable catering experi- ence in his war-torn homeland and Lebanon. He definitely wants to build on this, but just doesn’t quite know how yet. As a temporary worker at the ATLANTIC Grand Hotel, Mr Karaja has plenty of time to find out whether studying or vocational training is the right path for him. Lorena Ponferrada Rodriguez, 23, was unemployed in her home country Spain – as are more than half of her young countrymen. She finally found a trainee position at the ATLANTIC Grand Hotel in Bremen. She was given this opportunity by MobiPro-EU – a government initiative for reducing Europe’s high rates of youth unemployment. Ms Rodriguez was a lucky catch for the hotel. Over the next two years, she will learn everything she needs to know to become a hotel clerk, including German. Amadou Sow, 19, fled from Guinea, a country plagued by violence and poverty on the west coast of Africa. He is now a trainee chef at the ATLANTIC Grand Hotel. However, the lan- guage barrier is still an obstacle in the kitchen, where things have to move fast, so Mr Sow is repeating the first year of his course. Like all trainees from abroad, he is taking part in an intensive German language course held free of charge every week in the ATLANTIC Grand Hotel. Afterwards, there’ll be nothing to stop him!
