The Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival takes place from 30th June until 26th August and puts star clarinetist Sabine Meyer and the romantic composer Robert Schumann in the centre of its program. Furthermore soloists und ensembles such as Jonas Kaufmann, Sol Gabetta, the Artemis Quartett, Sir András Schiff, the King’s Singers, Midori, Rolando Villazón, Anna Netrebko and Nils Mönkemeyer, the Balthasar-Neumann-Chor & Ensemble, Die Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester and the Staatskapelle Dresden will be guests at the festival. Also great conductors like Sir Antonio Pappano, Thomas Hengelbrock, Christoph Eschenbach and Paavo Järvi will appear. Apart from the classical music scene the Festival is happy to announce the concerts of Pat Metheny, Tina Dico, the Tingvall Trio and und Judith Holofernes.
With numerous programs the SHMF celebrates the 100th birthday of Leonard Bernstein, the founder of the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra. Within the scope of the big musical tribute »The Big Bernstein« at the terrain of NordArt in Rendsburg-Büdelsdorf musicians such as Cameron Carpenter, Sabine Meyer and Martin Grubinger will dedicate their concerts to the maestro and his milieu. The Festival Choir and the Festival Orchestra will be part of these concerts too. A special Bernstein-Program is going to be the musical lecture »Nachtgespräche« with Jamie Bernstein.
